Wynnum Family Day Care
Wynnum Family Day Care services the surrounding south east and bayside suburbs of Brisbane including: Wynnum, Wynnum North, Lota, Manly, Manly West, Birkdale, Capalaba, Alexandra Hills, Thorneside, Wellington Point, Tingalpa, Hemmant, Lindum, Carindale, Wakerley, Belmont, Murrarie - we are expanding! Wynnum Family Day Care provides quality care for children in the homes of registered Carers. Carers provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment for your children. Wynnum Family Day Care is a non-profit organisation, sponsored by Community Childcare Inc. The scheme receives funding from the Federal Government. We are fully licensed and regulated by State Department of Families.
The Role of our Coordinators
The scheme employs two coordinators, an administrative assistant and a playgroup coordinator. Our coordinators all have Early Childhood training and they:
- Provide families with information about the scheme and potential carers,
- Assist parents to choose a suitable
- Recruit, assess, register and monitor all carers with the scheme

- Provide support, resources and training to carers,
- Provide support to families,and
- Conduct regular home visits with carers
About our Carers
- With the support of the coordinators Carers are resourced, trained and kept up-to-date with current childcare practices.
- Carers are assessed for their suitability to care for young children
- Carers must hold a current first aid and CPR certificate
- All adult members of the carers family and regular visitors are required to hold a positive suitability card (blue card
- Carers must attend regular in-service training
- Coordinators conduct regular safety audits of carers homes
Within the Carer's Home
- Carers are registered to care for four children under school age and three school age children
- Hours of care may be flexible to meet the needs of the families
- Children learn and develop through play and exploration within a small group setting
- Carers provide activities and experiences that meet the children's individual needs and interests
- Carers may conduct outings to playgroups, local libraries, museums, parks etc
Scheme Playgroup and Toy Library
The scheme has a coordinator who hosts a playsession for carers and children, on Tuesdays and Thursday (school term) from 9.00am to 11.00am at Wynnum Gospell Hall, 161 Preston Road, Manly West.The scheme also provides an extensive toy library for the carers to supplement their own resources.
Type of Care Provided
In Family Day Care, the hours of care are flexible and can be matched to your family's needs. Family Day Care may be available on weekends or overnight if needed.

Assistance with Child Care Costs
The Commonwealth Government provides assistance through Child Care Benefit to help with the cost of child care. Licensing
The Queensland Child Care Act and Child Care Regulations 2003 specify licensing requirements for Family Day Care.
